She recently went to my home-town newspaper(Chicago Sun-Times) and gave her first interview about the whole mess.

IT WAS REPORTED over the weekend by the TMZ gossip Web site that on an L.A. radio station, noted Chicago music retailer George Daniels stated that embattled R&B artist R. Kelly, 41, had an "inappropriate relationship with his daughter, 21-year-old Maxine Daniels." TMZ received a statement from R. Kelly's spokesman saying that "It's hard to take seriously the moral outrage expressed by George and Regina Daniels over R. Kelly's relationship with Mr. Daniels' adult daughter, Maxine. The fact is that they had no problem with the relationship -- indeed, they encouraged it -- while Ms. Daniels was on Mr. Kelly's payroll."

It went on to say -- "It was Regina Daniels, then working as a publicist for Mr. Kelly, who persuaded him to attend her stepdaughter's 21st birthday party. And it was Regina Daniels who shortly thereafter gave her stepdaughter Mr. Kelly's private phone number, with the admonition: 'Don't tell your father.' It was only after Ms. Daniels resigned her position to avoid being fired for incompetence that her stepdaughter's relationship suddenly became an issue for her and her husband."

Maxine personally came to this columnist's office at the Sun-Times, and in her first-ever interview said: "The statement that was issued by R. Kelly's camp to TMZ, which I interpreted as an attempt to defame Regina and George Daniels, my dad and stepmom, has made it necessary for me to respond to some of those accusations: I take full responsibility for my actions. My stepmother and father didn't know about my relationship with the singer because I knew and he knew that they wouldn't approve ... so I tried to keep it a secret, but when my stepmother found out about our relationship, she resigned because she felt that Rob had 'crossed the line' by dating a girl that he has known since she was 7 years old. My stepmom was not fired for incompetence. She was Rob's publicist for 14 years and always considered Rob not just a client ... but family. And Rob thought of my dad like a father.

"I am 21, smart and will be graduating from college this year, but I admit that I was swept up by his charming and generous ways, which I truly regret and have learned from. My brief relationship with Kelly last year ended because my parents were starting to hear rumors that we were together, and I was beginning to feel like it wasn't a healthy situation, especially with the pain it was causing me and my family," Maxine said. In a Sun-Times report on Monday, a Kelly camp insider said: Regina Daniels has been seeking "a healthy six-figure settlement from Kelly to go away quietly." Regina's response to that: "It sounds good, but it NEVER happened. I never contacted R. Kelly or attempted to contact R. Kelly or anyone in his camp regarding any money or any financial settlement or severance."

After the resignation of Kelly's longtime publicist, Regina Daniels, her husband, music retailer George Daniels, speaks out about Kells' inappropriate relationship with their daughter.

"He crossed the line with my daughter," Daniels told local Los Angeles radio station KJLH. "It didn't get to the extreme of that [sex tape] video or else I wouldn't be here, if you know what I'm talking about."

In November, Regina Daniels released a press release indicating that Kelly "crossed a line that forever altered the scope of our relationship." Now, George Daniels tells KJLH that Kells took advantage of his then 21-year-old daughter.

"When you're 21, and if you've been there already like I've been many years ago, you're still 15 to 16 mentally," Daniels added. "You're vulnerable."

Daniels and his wife ultimately got the truth from their daughter after much hearsay and speculation, but when Daniels questioned Kelly on the issue, he got a different story.
"He denied it," Daniels said. "He lied to me to my face."

Despite the private nature of the issue, Daniels said he has decided to speak out for the sake of other families.

"The reason that I'm talking abut this, it's not just for me, it's not for my wife, it's not for my daughter, but it's for the public," Daniels said. "It's for other fathers and mothers, because it doesn't have to be a superstar, it could be the dude on the corner. There are guys who sit around and give your child a couple of bucks to go to school and then wait until they get a little older, then they set that trap. See, so I'm doing this really for everyone."

Kelly is already feeling the heat because of another alleged inappropriate sexual relationship. The music star has been embroiled in a child pornography case following the appearance of a video tape that allegedly features him engaged in sexual acts with a teenage girl. He was charged with 14 counts of child pornography in 2002 and has pled not guilty.

The YBF broke the news yesterday that Girlfriends has officially been cancelled and the network is not even planning to shoot a finale episode. And now another source involved in the production of Girlfriends tells The YBF that the production team was in the process of bring back Jill Marie Jones (Toni Childs) for this year’s season/series finale. The source says this is critical to inform people of because ”Toni Childs” leaving is the biggest complaint that the cast and crew have encountered about the show and one that they would have answered had they been given the opportunity. Bringing Jill back was something they wanted to do for a long time and there was a story arc in place that was going to include that in the season finale.

Also, Girlfriends was one year away from being the longest running African American sitcom in television history. Longer than Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, Martin, A Different World, The Jeffersons, etc. It is currently tied for longest running African American sitcom of all time with The Cosby Show. And the source says that ninth year was something Mara Brock Akil (the show’s creator and executive producer) really wanted to accomplish and something that the team feels they should have been given an opportunity to do.
